ISP Investigating After Mt. Vernon Officer-Involved Shooting
(Mount Vernon, IL) — Illinois State Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in Mt. Vernon. A preliminary investigation shows that a Mt. Vernon officer encountered a person who matched the description of a suspect in an armed robbery at a gas station. The officer and 55-year-old Fredrick Goss exchanged gunfire as Goss ran. Goss was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The officer wasn’t injured. A firearm and evidence related to the armed robbery were recovered from the scene.
