The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Cass-Champaign-Christian-Clark-Clay-Coles-Crawford-Cumberland-De Witt-Douglas-Edgar-Effingham-Jasper-Lawrence-Logan-Macon-Menard-Morgan-Moultrie-Piatt-Richland-Sangamon-Scott-Shelby and Vermilion counties
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, southeast Illinois and west central Illinois.
DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT… Heat indices up to 105 are expected to develop by this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 1-7 PM.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this evening into tonight. Damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall are the main threats. However, a brief tornado touchdown cannot be ruled out.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY… Additional thunderstorms, some of which that could become strong, are possible Saturday through Monday.
SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT… Spotter activation may be needed tonight.
