A free public drawing will be held for dove hunts scheduled on September 1st at Whitley Creek and South Sand Creek Dove Fields at Lake Shelbyville. Two hunts will take place at each field, one from 7:00-11:30 a.m. and one from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Hunters should arrive at Whitley Creek forty-five minutes before the start of the morning or afternoon hunt. A permit is required for the hunt at South Sand Creek. Permit applications can be picked up at the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. or at mvs.usace.army.mil. Beginning September 2nd, and throughout the remainder of dove season, hunting will be on a first-come, first-serve basis at both fields.
