Area Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists will be hosting tree indentifying walks starting next month (September). Sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on select Wednesdays. The first will be September 8th at Lake Charleston, the second walk will be September 29th at General Dacey Trail in Shelbyville, and the third will be October 13th at Walnut Point State Park in Oakland. SAIL (Soyland Access to Independent Living) will have a personal assistant training session Thursday (8/26) from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the ERBA building in Greenup. Once you complete the session, your name will be added on the state registry and be accessible to those who need a personal assistant. Lake Land College Career Day is scheduled for October 5th. Area high school juniors and seniors will be on campus to learn about the many opportunities at Lake Land. In addition, an Illinois regional college fair will be held, featuring representatives from fifty different colleges around the country.
