SIU Student From Chicago Killed In Shooting Near Campus
(Carbondale, IL) — Southern Illinois University in Carbondale is mourning after a student from Chicago was killed over the weekend in a shooting near campus. Police say Keeshanna Jackson was at a party at a home in the 500 block of West Cherry Street when shots were fired early Sunday. The 18-year-old freshman was pronounced dead at the hospital. Three other people were wounded in the shooting, which happened just after the first week of fall semester classes. The incident remains under investigation. No suspects have been identified.
