Illinois Democrats Lean Congressional Maps Against GOP Delegation

(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Republicans say Democrats are leaning the redistricting process toward eliminating two GOP-held congressional seats. House Speaker Chris Welch’s office narrowly reached a deal to approve the new map last night. Welch says the deal will likely also force at least one incumbent Democrat out of state office. The changes in district lines favors Democrats by eliminating a congressional district held by a Republican.
