For Immediate Release
Interagency Task Force on Homelessness Community Listening Sessions
December 6 – December 16, 2021 (see schedule below)
The Illinois Interagency Task Force on Homelessness & Community Advisory Council on Homelessness will deliver a strategic plan to Governor Pritzker and the IL General Assembly by March 30, 2022. The IL Office to Prevent and End Homelessness and the Supportive Housing Providers Association (SHPA) are partnering with communities throughout Illinois to gather input on what should be included in the State Plan. Please join us to provide feedback on how the State of Illinois can work across agencies and with communities to best serve people experiencing homelessness and housing security.
There will be numerous sessions held across Illinois. You are invited to attend your regional meeting in-person or via a streaming platform. There will be a cap on how many people can attend the session in-person. Please look to the registration for more details.
- Please note that COVID-19 protocols will be followed for all in-person sessions, including wearing masks and social distancing, additional protocols may be implemented based on individual site requirements.
Persons experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability are encouraged to attend and will receive a $25 gift card for participation. To ensure resident voices are heard, there will be dedicated sessions for persons experiencing homelessness and housing stability only. People experiencing homelessness and housing instability are welcome to attend any session they chose. Please look to the registration for more details on these sessions.
The sessions will focus on answering the following questions:
- What should be the priorities for the IL State Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness?
- How can State government improve our partnerships with community agencies to end homelessness?
- How can State government agencies (like IDHS, IHDA, DCFS) work better together to end homelessness?
- Is there something that the State should stop doing?
- What are examples of innovate work or programs you have seen in other states/communities?
- Do you have any other comments?
