- Great things coming to Mattoon in 2022: Progress is continuing on the Hilton Garden Inn and Convention Center In Coles Centre with an estimated completion date of late summer 2022. The new North American Lighting replacement lamp facility should be up and running in 2022, creating an additional 75 to 100 jobs by the end of 2022. Dunkin Donuts plan to open their new facility in the former Taco Bell location in front of the Cross County Mall. The Downtown Mattoon Streetscaping project will expand to the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Broadway Avenue. By the end of the year we hope to see movement on the proposed major Sports Complex north and east of Home Depot. Mattoon In Motion has acquired the services of a new AmeriCorp Fellow who will be starting in January. One of his key efforts will be to promote and market Mattoon as a great place to live and work to people across the Country.
