Weekly Jobless Claims Fall, Back Below 200K
(Washington, DC) — Weekly jobless claims are on the decline again. The Labor Department says last week’s number was 198-thousand. That’s down eight-thousand from the previous week’s revised total. The four-week moving average of claims is now just below 200-thousand. It hasn’t been that low since October 1969.
The biggest increases in first-time claims for the week ending December 18th happened in Oklahoma, Michigan, and Washington. Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky saw the biggest drops.
