Broadway’s “Mrs. Doubtfire” Takes Nine-Week Hiatus To Save Show
(New York, NY) — The producer of Broadway’s “Mrs. Doubtfire” is taking unusual steps amid the COVID crisis to try to save the show. “Mrs. Doubtfire” is taking a nine-week hiatus from January 10th through March 14th. Kevin McCollum, who produced the previous hit musicals “Rent” and “Avenue Q,” says drastic, proactive measures are needed to save “Mrs. Doubtfire.” It’s been in development for six years and has been battered by COVID, causing severe money problems. Five other productions, “Jagged Little Pill,” “Thoughts of a Colored Man,” “Ain’t Too Proud,” “Diana” and “Waitress,” have permanently closed due to COVID.
