The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST THURSDAY for Christian-Moultrie-Douglas-Coles-Edgar-Shelby-Cumberland-Clark-Effingham counties
* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with the higher totals favoring locations near Interstate 72. Sleet accumulations of around 1/4 of an inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of central, east central and southeast Illinois.
* WHEN…From midnight tonight to 6 PM CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Power outages may also occur.
