Champaign County Pair Charged with Firearms Offenses

(Urbana, IL) — A pair of Champaign County residents face federal gun charges. A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Kevin Beasley and Ahzhnae Vassar. Beasley is accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, while Vassar is accused of making a false statement to a licensed firearms dealer while purchasing a gun. The indictment also claims Vassar unlawfully obtained possession of a semiautomatic pistol from Rural King in Champaign by falsely certifying that she was the true purchaser of that firearm.
