The Illinois trout fishing season will open April 2nd at 57 ponds, lakes and streams throughout the state. All anglers must have a fishing license and inland trout stamp, unless under the age of 16, blind or disabled, or are in Illinois resident on leave from active duty in the armed forces. The daily limit for each angler is five trout. Locally, you can fish for trout at the EIU campus pond, Casey Park pond, Wyman Lake in Sullivan, and Forest Park Lagoon in Shelbyville.
