Victory for our Second Amendment: Rep. Miller Statement on New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v Bruen
WASHINGTON -In response to the United States Supreme Court’s decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v Bruen, Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) issued the following statement:
“Today, gun owners and supporters of our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms had a major victory as the Supreme Court struck down unconstitutional restrictions on the Second Amendment. President Trump made this victory possible by appointing justices who upheld the Constitution, and gun owners owe this victory to President Trump’s leadership. I joined my fellow conservatives in the House to file an amicus brief to the Supreme Court on behalf of gun owners to advocate for the Second Amendment right to carry a firearm. The Second Amendment is clear, this right includes the right to bear arms. This decision is a step in the right direction, but we must keep fighting against the Left’s attempts to attack our Second Amendment rights at a time when the Left is pushing to defund the police and release violent criminals onto our streets. Senators who vowed to defend the Second Amendment are now working behind closed doors with President Biden, Leader Schumer, and Speaker Pelosi on red flag gun confiscation. Congress must reject all efforts to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of the American people.”
