FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE…Portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois and southeast Illinois, including the following counties, in central Illinois, Christian and Shelby. In east central Illinois, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar and Moultrie. In southeast Illinois, Clay, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence and Richland.
* WHEN…From 3 PM CDT this afternoon through late tonight.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – Recent rainfall has elevated the flood threat across the area. Added heavy rainfall will result in excessive runoff of rain. – http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
