IL Freedom Caucus applauds 5th District Appellate Court decision upholding temporary restraining order on weapons ban law
Springfield, IL – The Illinois Freedom Caucus is issuing the following statement on a 5th District Appellate Court ruling upholding the Temporary Restraining Order on the weapons ban law granted in a lawsuit recently filed in Effingham County.
“This Appellate Court ruling represents another significant step forward in overturning this unconstitutional law. We still have a long way to go but we are making progress.
We are confident the weapons ban, and gun registration law will be found to be unconstitutional in the long run. The idea that honest citizens should have to register their firearms just to exercise their constitutionally protected rights is absurd and the people pushing this far-left agenda know it. The legislators who voted for the weapons ban bill violated their oath of office by voting for a measure that clearly does not meet Constitutional muster. We will continue to oppose their efforts to undermine the Constitutional rights of honest citizens.”
The Illinois Freedom Caucus is comprised of State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich); Chris Miller (R-Oakland); Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville); Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City); Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur); and State Representative Jed Davis (R-Newark). The members of the Illinois Freedom Caucus are members of the Illinois General Assembly who are advocating for limited government, lower taxes and accountability and integrity in government.
