State Rep. Blaine Wilhour to attend Club for Growth training event as part of Fellowship program
(Beecher City, IL) –– State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) was named a Club for Growth Foundation fellow at the end of last year and this week he is attending the first of two in person seminars as part of the year-long fellowship program.
“The Club for Growth fellowship program will provide an opportunity to see what is happening in other states and help generate some ideas on how to bring these policies to Illinois,” Wilhour said. “We can’t keep doing what we are doing and expecting different results. Illinois residents pay some of the highest taxes in the nation. Our budget is under constant duress thanks to the inability of our state leaders to exercise any kind of budget restraint and their unwillingness to address cost drivers such as skyrocketing pension costs. We need to follow the lead of states like Florida and Texas and get our economy on the right track.”
Wilhour was named a 2023 Club for Growth Foundation Fellow in December. The Club for Growth Foundation Fellowship program equips civic leaders to explain the relationship between a free society, economic liberty, and limited government. In turn, this will expand the number of pro-growth Americans who are able and willing to engage in public service across a broad cross-section of society. The Fellowship is a yearlong program that consists of two seminars and also regularly-scheduled virtual meetings that will provide media training on how to pivot towards winning messages and using impactful stories to convey the human cost of the radical socialist agenda.
