Rep. Adam Niemerg: Danville City Council makes the courageous choice to protect life
Dieterich, IL – State Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Dietrich) says the Danville City Council took a bold stand by approving an ordinance making mail-order abortions illegal.
The City Council approved an ordinance Tuesday night making it illegal to send or receive abortion pills in Danville. Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. broke a 7-7 tie to pass the ordinance.
“It takes courage to stand behind an ordinance like this, especially in a state like Illinois,” Niemerg said. “The threat of lawsuits, the name-calling, and online harassment did not stop them from voting for this ordinance. I applaud the Mayor and the City Council members who voted to protect the lives of unborn children by voting for this ordinance.”
Niemerg said what is upsetting to the opponents of the measure is the financial impact the ordinance will have on a potential abortion clinic in Danville.
“The saying ‘follow the money’ is apropos to the outrage we are seeing from abortion advocates,” Niemerg said. “More than half of all abortions in the US are medication abortions, so this ordinance would impact the bottom line of the death merchants who profit from killing unborn children. They don’t care about the potential health risks associated with these drugs. These monsters want to charge as much as they can and spend as little as possible in performing abortions, and chemical abortions help them do just that. It is wrong, and thank God the City of Danville has courageous leaders willing to take a stand.”
