Illinois State Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Fatal Hit and Run Investigation in Champaign County
CHAMPAIGN – Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 7 and ISP Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Zone 5 is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run traffic crash on Interstate 72 in Champaign County.
On September 13, 2023, at 11:22 p.m., Troop 7 units were dispatched to a report of a female pedestrian walking west on Interstate 72 just west of Champaign. Troop 7 units arrived at the scene at 11:41 p.m. and located the female pedestrian deceased in the roadway on Interstate 72 westbound, just east of Interstate 57 (near milepost 182) as the result of being struck by a vehicle. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian left the scene.
