Board has a Good Read on Brimner for Assistant Principal
The Charleston Board of Education employed Kori Brimner as Charleston High School Assistant Principal at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting last night.
CHARLESTON, IL – Kori Brimner of Charleston, Illinois will assume the position of Charleston High School Assistant Principal for the Charleston Community Unit School District #1 effective July 1, 2024. The Board approved Brimner at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Wednesday evening.
Currently serving as a dean of students at Charleston High School, Brimner began her educational career as a reading and English teacher in Paris, Illinois. She brings a variety of educational and leadership experiences that will support the needs of Charleston High School.
Brimner is looking forward to continuing to serve the students and staff of Charleston High School. “I’m honored to be part of the CUSD #1 Administration, which guides a talented and committed staff while also emphasizing student success.” Brimner said. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve the Charleston community in this capacity.”
A native of Charleston, Kori graduated from Charleston High School and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Illinois State University in 2007 with a reading endorsement from Eastern Illinois University in 2011. She earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University in 2012. Kori has served as a literature teacher at Paris Mayo Middle School and coached basketball and track and field at Paris. Prior to that, she served the Hoopeston Area School District #11 for a year as a reading and language arts teacher and coach. Brimner served as an English teacher at Charleston High School from 2018-2023, during which she was a Competency-Based Education pilot teacher, Interact Sponsor, and Curriculum Council member.
