In April 2024, I experienced a sharp pain in my abdomen, a feeling that every surgeon dreads yet recognizes instantly. Suspecting my gallbladder was the culprit, I faced a choice: seek immediate help at the nearest hospital just minutes away or make the trip to Horizon Health where I serve as Chief of Surgery. Without hesitation, I chose the latter. My confidence in the exceptional care at our facility guided my decision.
Upon arriving at our emergency department, I was swiftly attended to by Dr. Shawn Robertson, the emergency physician on duty. His prompt assessment and quick action set the wheels in motion for my urgent surgery. The entire process moved seamlessly from there. Dr. James Griggs, our skilled anesthesiologist, prepared me for the operation with the utmost precision and care.
Dr. Fouad Hachem, my esteemed colleague and partner, performed the surgery. Knowing I was in his capable hands provided immense comfort during such a vulnerable time. Dr. Naveen Kumar, our dedicated hospitalist, ensured my postoperative care was nothing short of excellent.
From the emergency department to the operating room and through my recovery on the medical floor, the nursing staff displayed unparalleled professionalism and compassion. The experience reaffirmed what I have always known: our hospital delivers world-class care. The expertise, teamwork, and dedication of every individual involved in my treatment was exemplary. My journey from pain to recovery was made remarkably smooth by the outstanding efforts of our team.
This personal encounter has only strengthened my belief in the exceptional quality of care we provide. To our incredible staff – Dr. Robertson, Dr. Griggs, Dr. Hachem, Dr. Kumar, and all the nurses – I extend my deepest gratitude. Your commitment to excellence turned a challenging moment into a testament to our hospital’s exceptional capabilities.
