HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Offers Free Prenatal Education Classes for Expectant Parents
EFFINGHAM, Ill. — Expectant moms can get all their “what to expect when expecting” questions answered by attending any or all of the free prenatal education programs offered by HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.
St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital offers at three-part prenatal education program that is designed to give expectant parents a comprehensive journey through the process of birth and infant care. This series covers:
- Signs of preterm labor.
- Stages of labor.
- Pain relief options.
- Medical interventions.
- Role of a support person.
- Breathing and relaxing techniques.
- Different birth positions.
- Cesarean delivery.
- Post-partum care.
- Infant care and safety.
This prenatal education series is available free of charge to all expectant parents, even if this is not your first pregnancy.
St. Anthony’s also offers a breastfeeding course that is open to all expectant mothers, even if you have not yet decided whether to breastfeed your baby. This class is designed to inform expectant mothers of maternal nutrition, the different breastfeeding techniques, how you can prepare early for breastfeeding and postpartum experiences.
