An Edgar County woman is in custody following a sexual assault investigation in the Village of Kansas. This information was made available to the public as of yesterday, May 28th.
On May 9th, the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a reported sexual assault that took place in Kansas. Deputies spoke with individuals on scene and identified Carolyn J. Gregoire, 27, as the suspect. She was no longer present when officers arrived following the report. The case was then turned over to the Kansas Police Department for further investigation on May 11th.
Kansas Police located Gregoire and conducted an interview. Based on evidence gathered during that interview, Gregoire was arrested and transported to the Edgar County Safety and Detention Center, where she remains after being denied pre-trial release and has a pending court appearance on June 1st. She faces a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. In addition to this, Gregoire is being charged with “contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” a Class A misdemeanor.
Final charging decisions and bond conditions will be determined in court.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
