SPRINGFIELD — Due to severe weather and storm-related damage sustained overnight, the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has announced temporary closures on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
The fairgrounds sustained significant damage to trees and fences, with clearing and clean up currently underway. Buildings are still being evaluated for damage.
The following facilities and activities are closed for June 11:
- Emmerson Building – Currently without power and closed today.
- Block Building – Currently without power and closed today.
- Grandstand Ticket Office – Closed today. Concert tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster.
- Harness Racing – Today’s races are canceled, and tomorrow’s racing schedule is being evaluated. Additional updates will be posted on the Department’s Facebook page.
- Illinois Product Farmers Market – Canceled today and will resume next Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
- Community garden – Due to storm clean up, gardeners will not have access to plots today.
