The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is waiving day use fees at its boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at Lake Shelbyville for the day on June 16th, 2026. They’ve done so in honor of the agency’s birthday, celebrating 251 years of work across the country. It’s part of a nationwide effort where more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas in the United States will offer the same fee waiver that day. Just keep in mind, the waiver applies to day use only so camping fees and specialized facilities like group picnic shelters and special event spaces are not included.
Lake Shelbyville offers plenty to do for a free day out, whether that’s boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, or just spending some time outdoors taking in the wildlife.
If you can’t make it out on June 16th, there are a few other fee-free days coming up later this year: Independence Day Weekend from July 3rd through the 5th, National Public Lands Day on September 26th, and Veterans Day on November 11th.
