A Coles County man has been accused of doing the unthinkable… dousing another man in gasoline and trying to light him on fire. What could have spurred this on?
57-year-old Develle O’Quinn is facing attempted murder charges as he’s accused of pouring gasoline on his victim and trying to set him on fire with a handheld lighter or torch. This information surrounding the case comes thanks to a charging document filed in the Circuit Court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit, which was acquired first by WAND News.
O’Quinn has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, a Class X felony that carries a potential sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison. He was denied pretrial release on Monday of this week and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 20th.
All individuals listed as arrested or cited are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
