Illinois State struck early and never looked back, beating Eastern Illinois 49-13 in the 114th Mid-America Classic Saturday at Hancock Stadium. The Redbirds led 28-6 at halftime, then opened the third quarter with a 79-yard punt return touchdown from Dylan Lord. Drew Schiller hit two field goals for EIU, while Cole LaCrue added a late one-yard touchdown run. LaCrue threw for 150 yards, and Mafileo Tupou and Nick Vecchiarelli led the Panthers with nine tackles each.
