Students and staff at Cumberland High School were removed from their building this morning and relocated to Cumberland Elementary School, after a “threatening note” was discovered in a bathroom at the high school. Cumberland CUSD #77 addressed the situation in a statement posted to Facebook, calling the threat “serious,” while confirming that everyone in the high school has been moved to the elementary school as a precaution.
The district has not released additional details about the written threat that was made or if a suspect has been identified. Despite the change of scenery, Cumberland CUSD #77 confirmed buses will run as normal for the remainder of the day. If you are uncomfortable with your child finishing out the school day, you can sign them out by the Cumberland Middle School entrance.
This is a developing story, and we will update it as more information becomes available.
